Dryad in long pattern.

Dryad long pattern on white bfl
This is what the Dryad looks like when it's dyed along the length of the top.

And I've spun up the oatmeal bfl into this:

Some old colours, some new...

These three are all a new green which I've called 'Dryad' - quite yellowy and almost acidic depending upon what it's dyed on, in this case oatmeal bfl with silk, oatmeal bfl on its own, and black shetland with silk:

This is 'Grail' on oatmeal bfl.  I was a bit surprised as to how this came out when I designed the colour, and wasn't too sure, but it's been very popular so what do I know!

A basic darker green - 'Old Forest' - on oatmeal bfl and silk:

The same fibre in 'Dancing Birch' this is almost acid yellow on white fibre but much greener on darker wool:

'Dancing Birch' on shetland and silk.  The silk looks gold in this photograph; it's actually a bit greener in real life, and the wool itself has taken on a green tone.

I've just spun up some oatmeal bfl which I dyed up in 'Dryad' but in the long pattern colour repeat as in the layout shown in the previous post.  It's for socks - so when dry and balled I'll show it.

New dyeing layouts...

Dyeing layout usual

This is the normal way I lay out lengths of top in my dyepans. There are three lots of 100g here, each folded along the length of the pan, so the colour change shifts along the length of the top four or five times.

There's one pan laid out like this in the oven at the moment:

 Dyeing layout experiment

The idea being that the colour will shift only once, in one long change, along the length of the top.  I've had a couple of orders for me and they are in the other two pans cooking at the moment, but these are for me.  There's a white merino, a white BFL, and an oatmeal BFL, currently being coloured with a new colourway, 'Dryad'.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that I'll have a stall at both Wonderwool and Woolfest as usual, but am also making enquiries for Fibre East next July.  I didn't apply for this new one this year because, when I enquired, I discovered that dogs were not allowed on the site.  I have subsequently been told, by various people who did get a stall and had a great show, that dogs not belonging to the farmer were spotted around (not including the assistant dog who had special permission).  So I will have to see whether there will be space for me and I'm selected after those with first choice have been offered.

New dyeing - no photos.

Have been dyeing but have failed miserably to photograph some of it.

I have new greens and a bit of new fibre - I'll try and get them up soon.
